Browning Camping Kodiak Chair
Some Key Features
The Kodiak camp chair promises to be big and it delivers in that regard. Its dimensions measure 38 x 20 x 38 inches which are very big in all categories. This means that you’ll have plenty of space to enjoy with this seat.
The height from the seat to the ground is around 18 inches which makes it an easy chair to sit in but more importantly also easy to get back out of it. At this height, a person of average height will sit nicely with feet flat on the ground.
At first glance, the frame of the chair may look fragile, but it is quite impressive. The frame is made of strong powder-coated steel metal pipes attached together with footpads and crossbars. These make folding this camp chair easy as the joints to slide around can easily slide into place and are resistant to commission and weathering
The chair’s weight capacity is very impressive. It promises that it can hold up to 800 pounds which is more than twice the weight capacity of the average camp chair. This guarantees that the chair can hold virtually anyone who sits on it without much of a problem.
At the same time, it doesn’t sacrifice item weight for its maximum capacity. The chair weighs about 13 pounds, not counting anything you might have in the cooler. While not lightweight to some, this is still a pretty manageable weight for you and is far lighter than most other chairs of that weight capacity.
As with any good camp chair, it important that the Browning Kodiak chair is compact and easy to carry around. Thankfully the chair can be folded up just like any other camp chair.
It’s simply a matter of sandwiching it together into a tight bundle which can then be carried around. Thanks to the crossbars, the joints of the chair move quite easily. Once it is fully folded up, the chair is now reduced to a size of 41 x 7 inches.
This makes the height a bit tall and ungainly. This is made worse by the fact that it doesn’t come with a carrying bag to store it in.
On either side of the chair, you get too solid armrests. Instead of just being pipes extending out, the Kodiak camp chair goes the extra mile and gives it its own shape. These are broad and flat with a more defined shape that makes it easier to relax your arms on them.
Not only that but these armrests are built slanted. This means that they extend outwards, which with the broaden towards the edge of the seat. So when you’re sitting down, you’ll have plenty of space for them.
One of the more interesting features of the Browning Kodiak chair is the inclusion of a built-in cooler. This is located underneath the right armrests of the chair and can be accessed by pulling up the flap on the armrest. It has been insulated, keeping all the cold air trapped inside while you use it.
This cooler is quite large and can store up to two cans of any beverage as well as some ice. Alternatively, it can also be used to keep packed food from spoiling by keeping it away from the heat of the sun.
Once you have a drink with you, you won’t need to keep putting it back inside of the cooler. Instead, the chair also comes built with a cup holder, for it to hold your drink. This time it is located on the left armrest.
The cup holder is deep and broad, making it good for holding both cans and regular bottles without the risk of it falling over. It is made from mesh netting, preventing moisture from collecting on it.
The Browning camp chair comes with a mesh lining to ensure you stay just as cool as your drinks. This lining is quite extensive, running all along with the seat and back in a slight hourglass shape. This means air can rush in from the back and bottom of the chair. At the same time, this also prevents sweat from collecting at the seat.
For the sides, there is also nothing obstructing it from air save for the cooler which only takes a little bit of space. This means that you can also enjoy ventilation from side to side as well.
Much like its namesake the Kodiak bear, the frame is very strong thanks to the quality parts. Not only can it hold a lot of weight, but it is also durable and is sure to last you a long time.
Despite its strength, the frame is also quite minimalist. It’s mostly made from narrow pipes that don’t take up much room. This means that it won’t get in your way while you’re sitting down or prevent air from passing through.
With the addition of armrests, you also have a place to rest your hands as well as your drinks. Its broadsides also offer plenty of space for you when relaxing without feeling cramped.
Beyond just being strong, the chair is also quite big as per its promise of being a big chair for big people. You’re sure to have plenty of space to enjoy while you’re sitting down without ever feeling pressed for space.
It has one of the best weight capacities of a chair out there, letting anyone or even any two people sit on it without much of an issue. So if you wanna sit down with your kid or grandkid, you definitely can.
At the same time, it strikes a good balance with portability as the chair remains quite lightweight in comparison to others. This should make it pretty easy for you to carry around.
Thanks to the cooler, you can be sure to keep your drinks and snacks insulated while you’re hauling them to the campsite. You won’t even need to worry about extra storage as you can store it inside the chair.
With the cup holder, you can keep your drink at your side at all times without having to keep opening the cooler. This is not only convenient, but it also prevents the cold air from getting out.
The Browning Kodiak chair also comes with a huge mesh lining that covers almost the entire seat. With it, you can keep cool just like your drinks with a constant stream of air.

To help deal with some of the discomforts that they feel when using the chair, some users add their cushions on the seat. This gives them a bit of height and makes them more comfortable.
When packing up the chair, make sure the cooler is secure in the bundle. Otherwise, it might start rattling around the seat while you’re carrying it around.
