This Article Was Last Updated On February 15, 2021

To be able to do this we need a good quality and purpose-built propane stove. This stove is a robust and functional unit, built to last, and up to the task of providing heat and fire for you to prepare hot meals when outdoors.

We will put it to the test, and give an overall opinion on how we felt about its design, usability, and portability in our break down, and also add some of the pros and cons we found along the way.

Coleman Triton Instastart 2 Burner Stove

The Key Features.

This two-burner cooking appliance features a tough construction that effectively combats the rugged environment that it’s meant to be used in. This is also a bonus as it facilitates durability.

Not only does this feature add value to your purchase, it means you enjoy its services for an extended period of time so your outdoor adventures will be happy adventures.

Cooking Area

The Coleman Triton stove has a spacious cook surface that can accommodate a 10-inch pan as well as a 12-inch pan side by side.

This feature is of great benefit as your food doesn’t have to take turns, one at a time, to cater for the entire camping troop.

In this case, every inch of this burner’s surface exclusively features what’s usable and no space is wasted on irrelevant details or parts.

With the grill put into position, your pots and pans are guaranteed to be steady when cooking. This rules out accidental spilling or pots tipping over.

In addition to it having a modern and sleek design, the Coleman two-burner camping stove is a versatile cooking appliance that can cater to the number of fellow campers enjoying the outdoors with you.

Cooking Power

The Coleman stove comes with two high performance fully adjustable 11,000 BTU burners. This means that you can cook two meals at a go.

This is a convenient feature that saves you time and actually makes the cooking process enjoyable. Additionally, this stove features a PerfectFlow control system which keeps the heat steady on each of the two heat settings

This, in addition to the other features on this stove, makes this appliance an ideal choice for the outdoors. You do not have to worry about the flame being blown out by winds or it being affected by extreme weather.

With a steady heat and flame, your food or catch of the day will be cooked faster and evenly. This not only saves you time but the propane fuel as well.

Instastart Ignition

Trying to light a stove using matches or lighter can sometimes be a challenge so it is a great feature indeed to have an instant start ignition that is effective and efficient.

With the press of the button you have an instant flame, I really like this feature, it brings the stove up to the next level.

Measuring 21 X 12.5 X 4.25 inches, this propane camping stove is designed to facilitate mobility. Thanks to its reasonably compact size, you can rest assured that this burner will easily fit in your car whenever you are in transit.

The size of this camping stove also means that it can be stored without it occupying excess space. For instance, a shelf in your garage would be ideal.

The compact design of this two-burner stove does not, in any way, interfere with its performance. The cooking surface is spacious enough to accommodate two pots or pans side by side. It comes with a weight of just over 10 pounds.

Fuel Type / Consumption

This stove utilizes propane gas. Propane is a domestically produced gas which makes it easily available in local stores all around the country. This means that finding a place to refill or replace old canisters isn’t difficult.

Just to be safe, campers/hikers are advised to carry an extra canister of propane gas for security purposes. You never know when the other one will get exhausted.

Additionally, it is best that you carry the propane canister separately (detached from the burner) when traveling. This safety measure will rule out chances of leakage which may lead to wastage and/or other fire-related accidents.

Adjustable Controls

This modern two-burner camping stove is tactfully designed with independently adjustable controls. These allow you to set your heat anywhere from simmer to boil depending on what you are cooking.

By adjusting the dial to the appropriate heat level, you are able to cook your food efficiently and at the same save fuel. This also allows you the luxury of cooking different meals without worrying about overcooking or undercooking it.

The adjustable controls also allow you the freedom to cook food faster or slower depending on its texture. If in a hurry, simply adjust the heat upwards which will cut down the cooking time.

If you have a few hours to kill before dinner, put it on low heat and let the food take its time.

Efficiency goes a long way when cleaning camping gear. In this case, this 2 burner cook stove features a removable two-burner heavy-duty-nickel chrome grate which makes cleaning easy.

Removing the grate exposes the stainless steel surface around the burners where food particles are likely to be spilled around.

The cleaning process simply calls for a wipe down of the stainless steel surface which is simple. The grate being removable is of benefit as it allows you to detach it from the burner when transporting it.

Wind Protection

While outdoors, we can sometimes expect strong winds. These are guaranteed to upset and possibly blow out exposed flames which is why campers are highly advised to invest in proper camping gear and appliances.

The Coleman two-burner stove is specially designed with folding WindBlock shields on either side of the stove which helps block the wind.

This way, you can enjoy the convenience of cooking your meals without the flames being blown out every now and then. The Windblock shields are a great feature as they help keep the flames steady. This means that your food will be able to cook evenly and faster.

Built-in Handles

Enjoy the solidly constructed handles on either side which see to easy carrying. These not only facilitate its portability but also distribute its weight evenly.

With the two handles in place, you will definitely notice that the Coleman Triton burner seems lighter than it would be without handles.

For an outdoor appliance that’s likely to be moved around often, this is a necessary feature. You can also use the side handles to tie the burner into place when in transit. This will prevent it from moving side to side and probably damaging it.

  1. Thanks for the interesting read! I’ve been actually looking for camping equipment for my partner (his birthday is coming up and he is always interested in new gadgets for his fishing) 😀
This is definitely a great little bit of kit by the looks of it I especially like the instant lighting feature and the fact that it doesn’t blow out in strong winds, since we had this problem with the last one when I joined him fishing!

    • Hi Louise, the Coleman Triton stove is a great small 2 burner stove, compact, durable, and portable. Its 11,000 BTU burners perform well, and is a good choice of equipment for your partner for his birthday, he will love it.

I’m glad you enjoyed my article, yes the Triton is a great little stove with lots of big features. The Griddle that is available with this stove is a great addition for cooking fish, I love fish cooked whole in tin foil with some seasoning. I assume you would have lots of different recipes, we would love to hear one.

      Thank you and Enjoy.

  3. Hi, Shane I really like this portable cooker, the Triton, as it has a windshield which others don’t and that makes it safer for use in outdoor conditions. I also like the fact this is self-igniting although not so good if this function stops working
I really enjoyed learning about the Triton and it will be on the list of cookers that is for sure
Thank you for your informative review of this product

    • Hi Vicki, i’m glad you liked my review of the Coleman Triton, yes its a great little stove. Although the ignition sometimes fails on these units, i have piezo ignition on a lot of personal equipment and have owned for several years without fault, sometimes it might be just a bit of bad luck.

      All the best thanks Shane.
