Fenix Rechargeable Headlamp – 1000 lumens of Bright Light

No matter what the reason, if you’re in the market for a bright reliable rechargeable headlamp for work or play then the Fenix Rechargeable Headlamp 1000 lumens of bright light with dual spot and flood beams, might provide for you.

Please read on and check out the features as well as the helpful benefits that this light can give you around a campsite, climbing a rock, hiking, or working in a confined space with low light.

With both long and short-range applications, this light may be the companion you seek to illuminate the way forward. By the end of this article, you will know if this high-quality light is the one for you.

The Key Features

Output

With 1000 Lumens capable of effectively lighting your path several hundred feet in front of you with a peak beam distance of 600 feet you will always find your way.

Turbo mode on the spotlight 1000 lumens will give you 1.5 hours of runtime, while on high 350 lumens 4.5 hours and on low 30 lumens 42 hours.

Turbo on the floodlight 350 lumens 2.5 hours, high mode 130 lumens will give a runtime of 9 hours while the floodlight on low 4 lumens will shine for a reported 150 hours.

Versatile

This LED headlamp is designed with a versatile floodlight and spotlight combination as well as 4 brightness levels.

You have the choice to adjust the spotlight or the floodlight in a way that makes it a very good light for a wide variety of uses giving you a nice versatile headlamp.

These highlights make this an ideal headlamp for outdoor activities such as cave explorations, hiking, hunting, sitting around the campsite and so much more. The Fenix headlamp weighs 6.47 ounces which makes it easy to work with.

Multiple Modes

If you are looking for a headlamp that facilitates versatility then the Fenix headlamp might be what you’re looking for. In this case, this lamp offers nine modes between the neutral white floodlight, spotlight and red light.

It also has a two-beam option which includes a cool white light as well as a neutral white light. With the cool white light expect greater brightness with detailed contrast and great visibility for far distance.

On the other hand, the neutral white light is ideal for wide-angle visibility for nearby surroundings and also cutting through the fog. It also features dual switch controls for the floodlight and the spotlight separately.

The soft floodlight beam has a maximum beam angle of 90 degrees. Its output is digitally regulated which allows it to maintain constant brightness.

Battery Runtime

One of the biggest worries you may have that most explorers tend to have is being rendered helpless or unfruitful after batteries in their lamps die.

This emphasizes the need to invest in a powerful lamp that will serve you hours on end depending on the activity at hand. In this case, the Fenix HP25R headlamp offers 96 hours of runtime on eco and 1.5 hours on turbo when fully charged.

This way, you can at least carry on with your activities without worrying about the battery unexpectedly running low.

It is important to note that the light does get quite hot especially when used for an extended period of time, however, where the lamp rests on your forehead, it does not get hot so zero discomforts.

Rechargeable

Just like lots of other rechargeable products of modern technology, this headlamp comes with a built-in 18650 USB rechargeable built-in Li-on battery.

This battery is designed to sit inside the rear battery compartment at the back of your head. This is done using a USB charging cord and will take approximately 3-6 hours.

With such a modern feature, you have the luxury of charging the lamp anywhere. The red (charging) and green (charging complete) charging light will guide you on the battery level.

To back this up are two CR123 Lithium non-rechargeable batteries that will keep you going for some time. Another good rechargeable headlamp is the Foxelli Headlamp

Quality Build

The Fenix HP25R headlamp is built for a tough environment with campers, hikers, joggers, rescuers, cave explorers and hunters in mind. This explains why it has such a tough exterior that is guaranteed to take hits without damaging it.

It is made from a durable aluminum alloy which is quite a durable material for such outdoor equipment.

Additionally, it has an IP68 waterproof rating. This apparently means that it can endure a 6.5 feet water submersion. I would not put this headlamp through this test.

Comfortable

The band around this headlamp is adjustable which guarantees a snug fit. Its elasticity will see to it that as much as the band is tight enough, it still feels comfortable as it conforms to the shape of your head or helmet.

This way, you do not have to worry about the headlamp falling off or shifting every now and then.

The adjustable band means that this headlamp can be used by different people and over an extended period of time. A child can comfortably wear it, then pass it to an adult to simply adjust the soft head strap for their own head.

What Are The Benefits You Can Expect From This Product?

Bright and powerful you can adjust the brightness of the lamp to suit the environment or task at hand.

This gives great value in that it will rule out the need to invest in different headlamps hence giving you real value for your money.

The runtime varies greatly within the different modes but will last the distance under normal usage.

Multiple Mode functions of this Fenix headlamp make it the ideal companion for various expeditions and outings hiking fishing or just sitting around the camp.

The bright light illumination will see to it that your paths are well lit and the multiple brightness modes ensure no eye strain.

Battery life when carrying out short-term activities when only low light is required will assure you of good battery life and when it is not being used make sure to turn it off.

This lamp will surely serve you repeatedly hence ruling out the need for numerous recharge sessions. This feature also makes this lamp an ideal emergency lamp to have in your car.

Rechargeable Battery within the headlamp and with the included USB cable, you can conveniently recharge your headlamp anywhere; at home, hotel, a restaurant or on your way over to your expedition site.

If fully charged, you can be assured of maximum performance hence the peace of mind.

Weather-resistant Technology in this lamp will still serve you perfectly on a rainy day or when you’re working in a swampy area. or hiking in a slightly damp environment.

It has a weatherproof design and with an IPX of 68 means it can be in the water for a very short time, however, it’s not something I would encourage.

Durable tough aluminum alloy exterior contributes to the headlamp’s durability hence giving value for your money.

The Fenix Rechargeable Headlamp is quite powerful and with these features, this lamp is guaranteed to illuminate your escapades regardless of the terrain.

Comfortable soft straps that hold the headlight on your head makes it impossible to ignore the comfort that comes with this lamp.

The fact that you get 100% light while your hands remain free to handle other tasks is also quite convenient.

Here Is A Tip Or Two For You

  1. Always have a couple of  lithium non-rechargeable batteries with you as backup
  2. Never submerge the light in water, it is water-resistant not really waterproof

Pros.

  1. The Floodlight mode on high 130 lumens will allow the battery to provide light throughout the night
  2. 4 Brightness levels
  3. Quite lightweight at 6.5 ounces
  4. Rechargeable batteries are virtually a must on outdoors adventures
  5. Comfortable upon the head, hardly notice it on a helmet

Cons.

  1. Turbo mode spotlight on will chew through the battery in 1.5 hours, beware
  2. Not much wrong with this headlamp

My Overall Opinion

Sometimes we look for a number of different benefits in a single product but seldom do they come in the same package together. However, if you need a headlamp that is bright, lightweight, and rechargeable, then this is the one.

It is easy to use can be powered by both rechargeable and lithium batteries and is priced mid-range for such a good quality piece of equipment. I found it to be a well made durable and easy to use and would say this light rates a 9 out of 10 and well worth the investment.

  1. The Fenix rechargeable headlamp looks really good! I am actually looking for a headlamp for when Im out jogging at night. (It’s night so early now over here in Pennsylvania.) Do you know if the headlamp fits all head sizes? It’s not just for guys, right? Do you think it would be comfortable while jogging?

I do really like this one because of the fact that you can turn the light down and save on the battery life. I also like that it’s rechargeable. We have USB ports all over the house and car (as I’m sure everyone does these days), so that would be easy.

  5. Great info, I have used different types of headlamps in the past, some with two batteries while others three batteries. My major problems was with the poor quality and low battery life.

Reading this review, I am quite convinced that the Fenix HP25R may be a good value for my money, at $80, looking at whats its offering, it will be a good upgrade for me.

There are actually so many features I liked about the Fenix HP25R, the rechargeable battery will fit to my camping activities. This will mean I will carry my solar charging system to be guaranteed with a week of power.

  6. The rechargable headlamp  seems to be a very good article for all types of  activities in the outdoors.

I wonder how good it is for pot-holing or cave exploration? The 4 modes of lighting intensity seem very good as far as illumination goes, but it seems to have a weak spot on the waterproofing side.

The comfort is a big plus as often these headlights can be irritating in use. Also the versatility for the heads of children adults and for using on helmets is good.

I wonder how legal it is for hunting as  some authorities frown on lights in this regard?

How reliable is the battery run time ? Is this just the makers opinion or is there an authority to check it against. The dual types of batteries is a very good feature especially in wilderness or pot-holing situations.

I am impressed with the 9 out of 10 rating !

Thank you Shane for an informative and interesting report.

    • Hi Robert i see you have read my article with intent, This headlamp would be an ideal light in any type of caving, however i know they can be humid places and as such moisture can build up quickly, but moisture alone will not affect the light it is classed as waterproof but i would not allow any submersion at all. I Believe it is dust proof not waterproof.

From a legal standpoint that would be something for you to check with the local authorities From our research and the testing we carried out i believe the battery run-times noted are close to correct. A good product deserves a good rating. Thanks Shane.

  7. Hi Shane

I had been looking for a headlamp for my husband recently and was thrilled when I stumbled onto this one as I was looking for some camping gear.
It sounds like what he is looking for. He is a courier and does deliveries in a van but it has no back interior light so he needs a headlamp for this reason and sometimes he needs it when he is making the actual delivery to an address as the lighting is sometimes poor or non-existent.
I have a couple of questions on the product though. If he needed new batteries, are they easy to find and reasonably priced? The other question is about the lighting options. Would he have to toggle through a bunch of settings every time he turned it on or if he set the lamp to one setting would it stay on that setting the next time he turned it on? This is one of his pet peeves for some other headlamps he has been looking at.
I look forward to your responses

    • Hi Tina, Fenix builds some nice gear and this rechargeable headlamp is an excellent product, batteries are widely available and fairly priced in major centers. The headlamp automatically remembers the previous brightness level the next time it is turned on it will recall the last brightness used.
This is a really convenient and reliable headlamp that is sure to please your husband.
Thanks For your great comment I appreciate it, Thanks Shane.
