Lightspeed Air Mattress – Simple Outdoor Comfort

This review is about the Lightspeed Air Mattress. The market is flooded with endless options, but choosing just the right one from a sea of portable air mattresses can be daunting enough. Camping, hiking, or a day along the lake, outdoor adventure is fun.

But there’s one thing you cannot afford to miss, and that is a place to lay your head when the darkness closes in. You might have the best tent, but without the ideal mattress, you will be in for a long night.

Among the wide array of mattresses out there, however, is one that stands out — Lightspeed outdoors 2 person airbed mattress. This could be just the right mattress for your camping nights.

It comes with a hoard of features that are sure to offer you unbeatable comfort. So if you are in search of the right mattress for your next trip, read on to find out if this could be the one to make it a complete success.

The Key Features

Durable PVC-free Material

The first aspect about this mattress that you will enjoy is its odor-free, because of the thermoplastic polyurethane (PTU) material it is made of. Unlike other PVC mattresses, this material does not have the unpleasant plastic odors.

You will find in lots of other options that might fill up your tent with the smell of plastic. Besides, it is temperature stable, doesn’t stretch as much, and is more rugged than PVC, hence it will last longer.

Roomy and Sturdy

Camping solo or as a couple? No problem! This mattress is made for solo campers and couples alike. It is roomy enough for two, but if you are alone, then you’ll have a whole lot of space all to yourself.

What’s more, it can hold up to 550 lbs, which further makes it a great pick for anyone wanting a strong mattress. And with a 6.25inches pad thickness, it has what it takes to ensure ultimate comfort.

Inflating and Deflating

One of the main problems with airbeds is that getting the air in there can be a daunting task. Well, luckily, with this one, you don’t have to struggle a lot. It comes with a two-way Boston valve for easy, fast inflation as well as the deflation.

A Boston Valve is simply a small 2-way valve that screws into the inflation opening of the bed that will allow you to inflate the bed without having to worry about the air rushing back out when the pump is removed.  Besides, you also have a battery-operated pump handy, which helps inflate your mattress in just a few minutes in most cases.

Quiet, Sound Sleep

Another thing about this mattress that is sure to blow you away is how quiet it is. Unlike a lot of other beds that can be squeaky when you toss and turn, this one is very quiet. This ensures you get an undisturbed sleep, even when your partner turns or gets on/out of the bed.

Patented Stabilizer

This feature is by far one of the best you can get with this bed. It connects to the top and bottom layers in a design that enables you to adjust the firmness of the mattress. Whether you want a soft or very firm bed, then all you need is adjust it accordingly. You can simply do this by balancing the pressure in the mattress, by either increasing it or deflating the bed a bit.

Portable

If you want a portable air bed that you can take virtually anywhere, then this is your best bet. First, it is lightweight, weighing only 5.6 pounds. So you can lug it along without having to put up with unbearable extra weight.

Again, it comes with a spacious carry bag that fits the bed without a struggle, which proves to be very handy too. Also, you may need a sleeping bag to enhance your comfort so check out of our list of best sleeping bags to keep you warm and comfortable.

Bonding-Sleeve

A leaking bed is the last thing you want in the middle of the night. Well, this bed comes with an outstanding design that could sort that out — a bonding-sleeve that runs across the side of the bed. Unlike most other air mattresses that feature multiple such sleeves, this one features a single such sleeve. Hence, it makes it great for reducing the chances of leaks.

The Air Pump

With this feature on board, inflating your bed is not only fast, but also super easy and convenient. All you will need is pick up some 4D batteries to power it, and you are set. Besides, it is also reversible, so you can deflate the bed as easy too.

Above all, you won’t be replacing the batteries so soon, as you can use them for up to a few months depending on how often you inflate your bed. Always a good idea to remove the batteries before long term storage.

What Are The Benefits You Can Expect From This Product?

Save money with the durable, abrasion-resistant PTU material. Since it is built to last many seasons, this bed could save you a lot of money. Thankfully, you won’t have to be back on the market sooner than you should.

Sleep solo or as a couple in this bed without sacrificing the comfort as it is capable of supporting up to 550 lb, enough to cater to big guys too. You can reduce the stuff you have to lug along by bringing only this bed with you.

Inflating or deflating your bed doesn’t take more than just a few minutes, thanks to the free flow Boston valve. This could save you a lot of precious time so you can do something else, especially if time is not on your side.

Keep the bed firm with the patented stabilizer. You should not have to wake up every time your partner gets
on or off the bed. Although, you may feel movement if you are a light sleeper.

And to get ultimate flexibility, this feature, along with the battery-powered pump, enables you to set the firmness you want.

A lightweight, compact size design is just about all you need to get a bed that you can bring with you on any adventure. And once you are done using it, storing it for the next trip is as easy and convenient.

No air leakage means sound, comfortable sleep, all thanks to the good construction and single bond sleeve. This ensures you should never have to sleep on a deflated bed, which can be very uncomfortable, or worse yet, your health could be at stake as well.

Here’s A Tip Or Two

  1. It’s wise to inflate your mattress at home before going camping to stretch the material and to be sure there are no major leaks.
  2. Always a good idea to lay a groundsheet under the mattress for protection against sticks and sharp objects.

Pros.

  1. It is lightweight despite being a heavy-duty mattress.
  2. You can use it for 2-3 days sometimes without needing to re-inflate/top-off.
  3. TPU material is more abrasion resistant and outlasts PVC type.
  4. It’s super easy to use.
  5. Offers outstanding firmness flexibility.
  6. Weights approx 6 pounds

Cons.

  1. You will need to buy 4 D batteries as they are not included in the package.
  2. All air mattresses leak, some quicker than others.

  1. I think that this article is written for me. I sleep on some old bad and this mattress can definitely help me to improve my dream as I work very hard all the day. Price is very understandable and it is not expensive at all. I will get one for me and my wife but also for my kids, they need quality sleeping.

  2. Thanks for your article on camping equipment; I found it very useful.  So now that I no longer have to show up at the office, and that I’m able to make my own hours, it’s probably the right time to return to camping; something I haven’t done in years.  It’s interesting to see that now it can be more comfortable when being outdoors, the best I could hope for, in my time, was a sturdy pup tent, and a warm feather filled sleeping bag.  I will definitely check out your suggestions and tips.

    Thanks again.

  4. What drew me to this pump up mattress is the fact that you have a battery operated pump that allows you to pump up the airbed in a few minutes.  This beats having to blow it up manually with air from your own lungs!

I also like the fact that it is sturdy and can take a lot of weight as well as being roomy for both a single person or two people.  There’s nothing like feeling cramped when sleeping on an airbed, you subconsciously feel like you might just roll off the bed!

Lightweight is definitely a point to consider when taking into consideration the weight reduction to maintain when going camping.  This makes it easy to handle and carry too.

The fact that you can leave the mattress for 2-3 days without having to pump it up again is also an added benefit.

Were I to need an new air mattress, I would be more likely to choose this particular mattress.

  5. This is a well put together and thorough review of the Lightspeed Air Mattress. The description is excellent and the video really sells the mattress seeing it action and getting a visual of how flat it gets when its deflated would make it easier to store and the inflation time looks faster than the air mattress that I have. This mattress looks like a more convenient option. Great product review!

  6. Not that I’m camping anytime soon, but your informative review of this mattress makes me consider it. My attention was particularly drawn to it’s ability to adjust it’s firmness and also it’s quietness. Those would be very critical when the time comes for me to make a purchasing decision.

    Thanks for sharing
