Outdoor Vitals Sleeping Bag Review

The Outdoor Vitals Sleeping Bag Review focuses on this one sleeping bag that we think may solve your problem of keeping warm during cold nights camped outdoors.

Spending a night out in the cold, shivering and on the brink of hypothermia can be a real nightmare even for seasoned camping diehards, this usually comes down to lack of simple preparation and incorrect clothing.

Not having the proper sleeping gear causes problems, a good sleeping bag is one of the best options you can have to make it through a cold night without putting your comfort or life at risk.

Look for a sleeping bag with the right weight, warmth, functionality, durability, and a whole lot of comfort like the Outdoor Vitals Summit sleeping bag.

If you are on the hunt for that perfect sleeping bag, read on, by the time you get to the end of this article you will have a good idea if this is the one.

The Key Features

Ultralight, ultra-tough material

The combination of sturdiness and lightweight is the best you can get with a sleeping bag. And this one has what it takes to give you just that.

It comes with a shell fabric made of a 20D ripstop material. The inner fabric features a 320T ripstop material. Both of these strong and quality fabrics give you a very durable, yet lightweight design.

Built to keep you warm

To offer nothing but impressive performance in terms of warmth, this sleeping bag has an outstanding trick up its sleeve. Made of 800-fill power down, it works much like a natural insulator that keeps you in and the cold out.

This proves to be not only essential for your comfort; it could mean all the difference in the worst environmental conditions.

Coating for keeping you dry

In the cold of the night, rain and moist conditions can be inevitable if you do not have a good quality tent like the Eureka Copper Canyon.

You need to stay dry in cold rainy weather, otherwise, it is both uncomfortable and can cause your core temperature to drop below safe levels.

Not to worry, with the VitalDry DWR coating in this sleeping bag, you can stay dry all night. This coating features a design for repelling water from the shell of your sleeping bag.

Portable

This sleeping bag is definitely great during use, but you need to get it to the campsite first. Thankfully, toting this bag along doesn’t have to be a struggle.

First off, it is very lightweight, the 0*F only weighs 2 lbs 13.5 oz with the sack, you will hardly notice the weight difference. Worry no more about backaches after a long hiking or climbing day.

Another great thing is the 4-point compression bag. At 11 inches by 8 inches, this adds to the ease of portability. You will never have to worry about space when storing or transporting your sleeping bag.

Grid baffles

To keep the down of the bag evenly distributed, this bag comes with something even more crucial, the grid baffles. This design goes a long way to offering equal distribution of heat across the entire interior.

You won’t have any cold spots compromising your warmth and comfort, just slide inside and drift away into your sleep. Along with these baffles come the face drawstrings.

What Are The Benefits We Found In These Features?

To make it ultralight without sacrificing the quality, the sleeping bag features a premium 800 fill power down that works wonders.

Extra insulation in the footbox to keep your feet warmer throughout the night helping you stay asleep.

Its ultralight design with a weight of just 2 pounds makes this bag ideal for easy portability.

You don’t have to bring along extra weight to get the warmth and comfort that this sleeping bag has to offer.

Packing small enough, you can carry this sleeping bag conveniently in your backpack.

Not only extremely lightweight, but the power duck down used in its construction also compresses very small,

Compression sack makes it easy to lug along as well as keeping you warm and comfortable.

It’s heavy-duty and SnagFree YKK zippers not only go the distance to get the job done in keeping you well enclosed in your sleeping bag.

These are some of the top-notch zippers out there; hence, they offer an efficient, heavy-duty, lasting service. These are sure to last as long as the sleeping bag does.

Drawstrings are yet something to look out for in an ideal outdoor sleeping bag. The face drawstrings in this one help set your sleeping bag to fit your needs.

Shoulder baffles reduce the area of your face that is exposed to the elements, offering better coverage and once again keeping the cold out of the bag.

The interior of this bag is also spacious enough. So you can sleep comfortably and have enough night sleep without feeling claustrophobic.

Another benefit I see is to use a separately purchased liner in the bag which will keep it in much better condition longer, and besides, it is a simple matter of removing the liner to wash it.

Its water-resistant outer layer is also something worth a hard look. This feature goes the distance to keep you dry even in moist conditions.

However, the down inside the bag is not waterproof, you can improve the water-resistance by applying a down-proof wash and give the outer shell an increase in resistant ability.

Here’s a Tip Or Two

  • If your heading into a cold environment, be sure to have a good quality sleeping pad underneath the sleeping bag.
  • Liners are available here on Amazon and well worth the few extra dollars.
  • If you don’t have enough space in your backpack to fit in a pillow, you can use the compression sack. Just stuff in a couple of clothing items and you have yourself a suitable pillow.

Pros.

  1. It offers comfortable warmth right down to 10 degrees.
  2. With such a lightweight bag, you can bring it to almost any outdoor adventure.
  3. A tough, robust, comfortable yet lightweight construction is outstanding.
  4. The down features an even distribution for ultimate comfort.
  5. Finally, the manufacturer gives a lifetime warranty, which is an excellent offer.

Cons.

  1. This is like most other bags in that it’s not waterproof. This is more of a statement than a con.

  1. My friends and I love to go camping. One of them has a birthday coming up next week and I’m considering to buy him an outdoor sleeping bag. It’s great to know that this one has a lifetime warranty. Being ultralight and small is great because we always try to keep the luggage that we take camping with us at a minimum.

  2. I love fall backpacking and I have struggled for years to find a sleeping bag that kept me warm enough in colder overnight temps.First of all, I have to say that I am extremely impressed by the product overall. As a long-time backpacker, I have seen what I refer to those sleeping bags costing $600.00 or more, which are more than you might think. While they are high-quality bags, they are well above the price range of your average backpacker.

    This bag is a must.

Very lightweight great quality of material and zipper.

    Have a nice day,

    Leo.

  4. Thank you for this good honest review. My husband and I have been toying with the idea of going backpacking when the warm weather comes back around. We have never been backpacking before, so we will most likely be going somewhere nearby to see if we will like it.

If we think we are going to do it often then we will have to get good quality supplies. This sleeping bag looks like it is of great quality for the price and I really like the fact that it only weighs 2 pounds. With all the stuff you have to pack, it’s nice to have lightweight options. I will have to add this to my list of things we will need when the time comes.
